Beauty hauls are a rare luxury in my life, purely down to the high maintenance attitude I seemed to have developed with all the non-high street brands. I haven't bought a beauty product that's considered a treat (in other words, anything other than my usual repurchased essentials) for a good few months now and as Christmas time comes round, it always seems the best time to have a bit of a splurge, or to let your family and friends in with a hint that you'd really really love that new release, and would love them even more if they was as to be so kind to give it to you as a gift.
With beauty and skincare, the list can be never ending; there's so much choice from all kinds of brands across the planet and often it's difficult to keep track of the must haves and the must have nots. On my list are a few cult favourites I've been dying to try out and develop an opinion of for myself, like the Clinique 3 Step for my troublesome oily skin, the YSL Black Opium perfume, the Illamasqua Hydra Veil primer and Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer that I've heard nothing but hyped things about. Also on my list are a fair few palettes, for both the face and the eyes. Palettes appeal to me more than your singular product, not just because I'm a sucker for packaging but because having a selection of shades compacted into one usage is easier to reach out for. The recently famous Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani palette is at the top of my want/need list, as is the Filmstar Bronze & Glow because when can Charlotte Tilbury ever go wrong? (Answer: never). The Tom Ford Colour Quad and the Bobbi Brown Greige palette feature some absolutely beautiful basic nudes, going in to browns which will of course be great quality all day pigmentation, and the Becca Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette tickles my fancy purely because I'm enjoying experimenting with contour and highlighters ranging from light to dark to create that dimension.
Both the YSL Nude Beige lipstick and Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk match my eyeshadow tastes and the neutrals compliment my skin tone more than any other colour. I do like to bring out the reds and berries during winter but I'll always go back to my nudes. Speaking of which, I think the only non-nude product on this list is Essie's After School Boy Blazer but just look at that colour, how stunning would that appear on the nails?! - such a stand out tone. For the face, I'm eager to get my hands on some indulgent Chanel (that I've never delved in to before) with the Perfection Lumiere as it looks so radiantly gorgeous and would be the ideal velvety matte foundation.
Skincare wise, there's never a time I'm not on the look out for products that will soften and revitalize the face, especially as the harsh winter is drying out and dulling my skin. The REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial and the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream just seem like great staples to have to hand whenever you need them and I fail to find fault with both REN and Kiehl's.
Bridie x
