Britain may have had their mere three days of experienced summer with no sign of return but for us lucky so and so's who are set to jet off abroad any time soon, hunting down a generous selection of bikini and swimsuit choices is still clouded in the mind 24/7 (well for me, at least). With my strange body proportion; my waist being almost non existent and my bum, hips and thighs able to be seen from Mars, I do struggle.with swimwear shopping. The pretty designs and unique cuts I lust over have frequent visits to the post office upon return because, to my displeasure, I concluded they just don't fit right and I'm completely unable to pull them off unlike my insta crushes photogenically posing on the Caribbean Islands *deep sigh*.
This doesn't mean I won't give it a go, though. Comfort is always key, both in the way swimwear shapes to my torso and the confidence I wear but I'm also drawn to the appearance - from the colour and fit to the neckline, and other minor detailing. This year I feel both the high street and online stores have upped their game massively and I'm spoilt for choice. My usual tastes tend to range in the 'wear this in the sun and you'll end up with unflattering triangle cut out shaped tan lines' collection but I also love the simplistic pieces. I've also found myself rediscovering love for swimsuits (or better known to 9 year old innocent me, swimming costumes). I always turned a blind eye to them in the past but now they're becoming trendier, less childlike and more classy - with an added benefit of being able to cover your overloaded by carbs tummy. The ordinary ones with the novelty motif are an obvious firm favourite because wherever there's lighthearted quoted humour or a picture of holiday orientated objects, there's a guaranteed switch to zoning out with sunglasses on, an inflatable to lay on and a cocktail in hand.
Have you bought your first piece of swimwear this year? What styles are you digging?
